Dr. Andrea Palmioli is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Architecture and Built Environment at the University of Nottingham Ningbo, China. He has previously held academic positions at leading institutions, including the University of Cambridge, City University of Hong Kong, The University of Hong Kong, and Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences.
Dr. Palmioli holds dual PhDs in Architecture and Urbanism from the University of Paris-Est, France, and IUAV University of Venice, Italy. His research focuses on the spatial restructuring of China’s extended metropolitan regions, with a particular emphasis on rural industrialization in the Yangtze and Pearl River Deltas. His expertise includes bioregional planning, transitional landscapes in Chinese urbanization, and the cultural and visual identity of geographical place names. Dr. Palmioli explores ecological and built systems as innovative urban models, advancing knowledge in comparative urbanism and the sustainable development of Asia’s metropolitan territories.
